No company should be as big as Amazon, news item 1,455,213:
Jeff Bezos continues to prove out the theory that no one should have a billion dollars, but his comments today at the DealBook summit complete a public heel turn that is somehow still shocking to me.
Agains the backdrop that Bezos has already used his ownership of the Washington Post to pull a Harris nomination and help get Trump elected, and the strongly sourced rumors that he has traded that favor for future U.S. government contracts for his Blue Origin company, he said:
"“I’m very hopeful — he seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation,” Mr. Bezos said of Mr. Trump. “And my point of view is, if I can help him do that, I’m going to help him, because we do have too much regulation in this country.”
Kiss the ring, I guess, but remember that we can all see you and hear you, Mr. Bezos. Amazon has already unleashed such spectacular problems on the earth that I shudder to imagine what could happen with even less regulation - but imagine we must. I know it's difficult to break the addiction, but we've got to find ways to talk to each other and limit the money we give this craven coward, because he has proven again and again and again that he's happy to destroy the world as long as he keeps on biggering
